Charlotte restaurateur snaps up prime NoDa site

This vacant NoDa restaurant will gain a new identity this summer.

The Mason Jar Group, led by Anthony Kearey, will open The District at 3221 N. Davidson St. The name is a nod to NoDa’s arts district.

“I think the opportunity there is fantastic and it’s going to continue to grow,” Kearey says of the neighborhood.

His hospitality group is also behind The Union, 204 North Kitchen & Cocktails and the recently opened Grace O’Malley’s Irish Public House in Matthews.

Expect the 2,400-square-foot restaurant to be transformed into a neighborhood gathering spot, with a large patio. The menu is still under development, but it will be a “fun, American menu that’s approachable,” Kearey adds.

The concept replaces Solstice Tavern, which closed unexpectedly in November. That venture had been part of the NoDa neighborhood for more than 12 years.
